Marbella has closed the 2024 financial year with a robust budget surplus of €53 million, reaffirming the municipality’s strong economic standing and prudent fiscal management. The announcement was made by Mayor Ángeles Muñoz during the most recent municipal meeting, where the full balance of accounts was formally approved.
The healthy surplus, drawn from a total municipal budget of over €360 million, reflects Marbella’s ability to manage spending while maintaining high levels of investment in infrastructure, services, and social programmes. The figures also highlight a noteworthy increase in the town’s overall financial liquidity.
According to the mayor, this fiscal strength will allow the town to continue making direct investments in neighbourhood improvements, security, public transport, and urban renewal—without relying on debt or austerity measures. Notably, the budget also maintained a focus on reducing administrative delays and increasing the efficiency of local governance.
In addition to the surplus, the town hall has pledged to maintain transparency and forward momentum in its urban planning strategy, including projects tied to the forthcoming PGOM (Plan General de Ordenación Municipal), which is set to shape Marbella’s long-term development.
For investors, residents, and second-home buyers, Marbella’s fiscal results are another signal of the town’s stability and appeal—an increasingly rare combination on the Mediterranean coast.
