Estepona’s ambitious coastal footpath is now over 90% complete, bringing the town one step closer to achieving an uninterrupted pedestrian route that links the entire coastline. Once finalised, the project will offer more than 23 kilometres of continuous seaside walkway, stretching from the eastern edge of the municipality all the way to its western border.
This transformative initiative, spearheaded by the Ayuntamiento de Estepona, is part of the wider “Estepona, Garden of the Costa del Sol” urban renewal strategy. Designed to enhance the town’s liveability and appeal, the footpath provides seamless access to beaches, chiringuitos, and natural surroundings for both residents and visitors.
Recent progress includes newly opened stretches between La Morocha and Cabo Bermejo, as well as areas linking Isdabe and El Saladillo. Modern footbridges have been installed to cross natural streams, while improved lighting, landscaping, and signage ensure the walkway blends harmoniously with the coastal environment.
Mayor José María García Urbano has long championed the project as a model of sustainable urban planning—one that connects neighbourhoods, promotes walking and cycling, and supports local businesses. As Estepona continues to grow in popularity among international buyers and tourists alike, investments like these reinforce its position as one of the most forward-thinking towns on the Costa del Sol.
