Spain’s National Statistics Institute has revised the country’s 2024 GDP growth upward to 3.5%, an encouraging signal of resilience and momentum within the eurozone’s fourth-largest economy. The adjustment, up from the initial 3.2%, reflects stronger-than-expected private sector performance, underpinned by robust exports and healthy savings patterns.
The revision places Spain well ahead of its European peers. Germany’s 2025 forecast currently hovers at just 0.2% growth, while France is expected to expand by 0.6%. By contrast, Spain’s government has raised its 2025 projection to 2.7%, reinforcing a narrative of steady recovery and expanding investor confidence.
Earlier data was also recalibrated: growth in 2023 has been adjusted slightly down to 2.5% from 2.7%, while 2022 figures were lifted to 6.4% from 6.2%. Taken together, the trajectory shows that Spain continues to outpace its neighbours, even as the wider eurozone grapples with sluggish expansion.
Adding weight to the optimistic outlook, S&P Global recently upgraded Spain’s long-term sovereign credit rating to A+, citing the strength of private sector-driven improvements in external balances. This recognition highlights the stability underpinning the economy and positions Spain as one of Europe’s more dynamic markets entering the mid-2020s.
For investors and buyers on the Costa del Sol, the implications are clear. Stronger GDP growth typically supports consumer confidence, inward investment, and real estate activity. The backdrop of economic resilience enhances Marbella’s appeal not only as a lifestyle destination but as a secure long-term market for property acquisitions.
